Thesis 2010 King Midas #1

Title: “King Midas Has Donkey’s Ears”

Pan challenged Apollo, the God of the lyre, to a trial to see who could play the most beautiful music. King Midas chose Pan over Apollo. The God punished Midas for bad musical taste by giving him donkey ears. Midas tried to hide his disgrace under a hat so that only his barber knew his secret. Unable to keep Midas’ secret the barber whispered it into a hole in the ground where the reeds took it up and every time the wind blew the reeds whispered “ King Midas has Donkey’s Ears”
This classical myth is transported to an Asian location, depicted in a traditional Asian painting style with a Japanese woodblock look and dress.
